Man hit by vehicle on 294

Authorities said a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on Interstate 294 Sunday afternoon in Des Plaines.

According to the Des Plaines Fire Department, which assisted, the accident occurred around 2 p.m. on southbound 294 at the 42-mile marker between the Dempster and Touhy exits.

A fire official said a man believed to be in his 40s was standing outside a vehicle when he was struck by another vehicle and launched into the windshield of the moving car.

The official said the victim was conscious at the time he was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

The state police are investigating the incident. All state police would say is that a pedestrian was struck a mile north of Touhy.
