Naper Nights ends on a high note

Community concert series to return next year

Naperville, IL — More than 7,200 people attended the 2013 Naper Nights Community Concert Series, sponsored by Sikich, during the fourth weekend of June, July and August at Naper Settlement in downtown Naperville. More than 165 volunteers contributed to the success of Naper Nights, helping out in various capacities through the three weekends in addition to a 21-member volunteer planning committee, co-chaired by Naperville Heritage Society board member Alex Harris and Chris Korsgard, a partner at Sikich Technology.

“The volunteer committee was thrilled so many Naper Settlement members enjoyed the second annual Naper Nights' History of Rock theme and the Taste of Naperville restaurants,” Harris said. “Our business partner sponsors made it possible to raise funds to support educational services to 33,000 students through school field trips this year.”

One of the bands, The Gecko Club, was so impressed by the event that they donated their fee to the Naperville Heritage Society, the administrator of Naper Settlement.

"The entire band and I had an amazing time during our Naper Nights concert this summer,” said Andrew Huber, front man for The Gecko Club. “The decision to use our performance to directly contribute to the enriching programs NHS offers was rewarding on many levels. Everything about the event highlighted the unique and cool atmosphere that Naper Settlement gives to the community and we were thrilled to be a part of it."

A highlight of the weekend was the naming of the History of Rock Trivia Challenge Grand Champions, Brad Kolavo and James Brindel, who tied for first place. In second place was Rich Bowden and in third place was Paul Riggs. On Friday, Aug. 23, the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce held a Centennial Celebration at Naper Nights and Infiniti of Naperville-Lisle debuted its new Q50 sedan.

Naper Nights will be returning in 2014 on June 20-21, July 25-26 and Aug. 22-23 and is one of the special events included in membership. The other events are Oktoberfest, which will be held Oct. 4-5; All Hallows Eve: Village Fear on Oct. 18-19 and Civil War Days on May 17-18, 2014.
