Son of White Sox bench coach suspended

Advanced Rookie Bristol catcher Nick Parent, the son of White Sox bench coach Mark Parent, was hit with a 50-gamesuspension Thursday for violating the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

According to MiLB.com, Parent tested positive for metabolites of Stanozolol, an anabolic steroid banned by Major League Baseball. The Sox drafted Parent in the 36th round of the amateur draft in June.

Parent batted .114 with 5 RBI in 23 games with Bristol. He had a .244 on-base percentage and struck out 33 times in 70 at-bats.
