Hawthorn Woods fun fest:
The village of Hawthorn Woods hosts its 5th annual Fall Family Fun Fest on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon at its Aquatic Center, 94 Midlothian Road. The free event features a Touch-a-Truck or Big Rig Vehicle, including public works trucks, snow plows, police cars and more. There will be complimentary refreshments, arts and crafts for kids, and free train rides. Village services booths, including a welcome table/general information, police, public works and building and parks and recreation departments, will be available. Weather permitting, there will be a free, open swim during the event.
