Chicago-area shooting victim charged with bribery
A Chicago-area shooting victim is charged with seeking a $1,000 bribe from a man who allegedly shot him in exchange for a pledge not to testify against him.
Cook County prosecutors say 29-year-old Larry Dennis of Markham appeared in court Tuesday. His bond was set at $30,000.
Prosecutors say David Gordon allegedly shot Dennis on July 7 in Markham during an argument. The gunshot wounds weren't life-threatening and Dennis was soon released from a local hospital.
Based partly on Dennis' identification, Gordon was arrested for aggravated battery with a firearm.
Prosecutors say the shooting victim spoke to a relative of Gordon's last week and allegedly proposed the bribe. That prompted an investigation.
Prosecutors didn't name a defense attorney and there's no telephone listing for a Larry Dennis in Markham.
