Schaumburg opens with three-set triumph

Schaumburg’s girls volleyball team opened its season on Tuesday night with an exciting 19-25, 25-23, 27-25 victory at Evanston.

Coach Jeanette Pancratz’s Saxons were led on attack by senior Kiana Lewis (12 kills) and sophomore Abbie Rahn (9) while junior Jada Blackwell handed out 19 assists and was 11-of-12 serving.

Sophomore Lexi Ross was 9-of-9 serving with an ace for the Saxons while Lewis was 12-of-13 with an ace.

Senior Sarah Steuhm led the defense with 15 digs and was 9-of-10 serving while junior Oyinkan Akinola had 4 blocks and 3 kills.

Larkin d. Hoffman: Larkin defeated host Hoffman Estates 25-20, 25-18 in the nonconference season opener.

Andrea Wolinski led Hoffman with 4 kills while teammate Renee Clemment added 3 3.

Clare Shaffer was 5-of-6 serving with 2 aces and also had a team-high 10 digs while Jenny Avila was 6-of-7 at the service line with an ace.
