Ty Nelson made it 3-1 with an RBI single in the sixth. Lake Erie was able to tie the game in the eighth, but the Boomers won in extras.
Starter Chris Phelan worked into the eighth but did not factor in the decision for Schaumburg, the top road team in the league. Phelan worked his 11th quality start with 72⁄3 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits with 6 strikeouts.
