No injuries as fire strikes Naperville house

No injuries were reported in an early morning fire Thursday that caused roughly $100,000 damage to a house on the 1000 block of Prairie View Court, Naperville firefighters said.

Authorities said the homeowner called firefighters at 3 a.m. to report a fire on the home's deck. Crews arrived five minutes later to find the fire was starting to reach the house.

The fire was brought under control in 11 minutes and the bulk of the flames were confined to the deck and family room, with what authorities called a “slight extension” into the home's basement. Firefighters said there were moderate amounts of smoke damage inside the house.

An inspector from Naperville's transportation, engineering and development department deemed the building uninhabitable. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
