Des Plaines Prepares For Kiwanis Peanut Day, September 27 and 28, 2013

Members of Des Plaines Kiwanis visited Mayor Matthew J. Bogusz' Office this week to seek support for the Club's annual fundraiser, exchange a few laughs and, of course, sells a few peanuts! Kiwanians were all smiles as they solicited the first Peanut Day donation from Mayor Bogusz. This year Peanut Day will be observed Friday, September 27, 2013, and Saturday, September 28, 2013 and volunteers will be seeking donations that benefit the community's young people, senior citizens and social services. According to members of the Kiwanis Club, 100% of the net proceeds received from residents and businesses are shared by the Des Plaines Kiwanis Foundation with organizations in the community. Kiwanis Club members remind the community that a case of peanuts (100 packs) may be purchased for $50 by calling Peanut Day Chairman Linda Traina at 847-391-5090. The Kiwanis Club was chartered 73 years ago as a member of Kiwanis International, “a global organization of members of every age who are dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.” (pictured left to right) Mayor Matthew J.
