Lawyer: Terrell innocent of charges
A lawyer says former Bears wide receiver David Terrell will plead not guilty to a felony charge of manufacturing or delivering marijuana and a misdemeanor battery charge.
Attorney Mark Sutter said in a statement Tuesday that Terrell denies “any participation whatsoever in the alleged criminal acts.”
Terrell was arrested Friday after police received a call of people smoking marijuana in a building. Authorities say Terrell and two others were observed with cannabis and “materials to package and distribute narcotics” in plain view.
Authorities said the 35-year-old Terrell struck an officer’s hand during an interview. He is free on $20,000 bond.
Terrell, who played for the University of Michigan, was drafted by the Bears in 2001. He finished his five-year career with 128 receptions and 9 touchdowns.
