Missing 76-year-old Schaumburg woman found safe

A 76-year-old woman who went missing last week from a Schaumburg care facility has been found safe, police announced Tuesday.

Agripina Resendiz, 76, who is under state guardianship because of her medical condition, was located Monday in Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg police Sgt. John Nebl said in an email.

Resendiz was taken to a hospital for a checkup then returned to her care facility.

Police did not release additional details of Resendiz’s whereabouts since she went missing last Wednesday from the facility where she was living under court order.

Authorities said she was visited that day by her son, Armando Resendiz, who spent several hours with her. The facility staff later discovered her missing and believed she may have been with her son, police said at the time.

Nebl said he does not anticipate any criminal charges stemming from the woman’s disappearance.
