Waukegan police investigating homicide

Waukegan police are investigating a homicide but released few details Tuesday.

The body of Monica Williams, 28, was discovered about 8:30 p.m. Sunday at her apartment building on West Drive, police said. Officers had gone there to find Williams after relatives told police they hadn’t heard from her, according to a news release.

No other details were available from police.

“The investigation is very much open and ongoing,” Police Commander Joe Florip told the Daily Herald in an email. “Currently, that is all the information the police department is prepared to release.”

The Lake County coroner’s office conducted an autopsy, but officials refused to divulge any details Tuesday because of the investigation.

Anyone with information about Williams’ death or her recent activities can call the police department’s tip line at (847) 360-9001.
