Carpentersville police looking for man facing sex assault charges

Carpentersville police are looking for a man they say touched himself in front of a 16-year-old girl twice — once after he grabbed her and again after he tackled her.

A Kane County judge this week signed a warrant for the arrest of Jorge Perez Garcia, 30, of the 300 block of Tulsa Avenue. He has been charged with attempted criminal sexual assault by force, unlawful restraint, sexual exploitation of a child and battery, according to police and court records.

Police say that at 8:45 p.m. July 31 the girl was walking in the area of Tulsa Avenue and Lake Marian Road when Garcia started following her. The girl tried to lose him by cutting through the Meadowdale Apartments and walked through the open field by the Walgreens drugstore, Cmdr. Timothy Bosshart said. Garcia caught up with her, grabbed her right arm, unbuckled his belt and began touching himself while he held onto her arm, Bosshart said.

The girl broke free, but Garcia caught her again, tackled her, starting touching himself again and ordered her to pull down her pants, Bosshart said. The girl escaped again, ran into the drugstore and an employee called police, Bosshart said.

Police describe Garcia as a 5 feet 8 inches tall Hispanic man with a medium build, with dark hair, a short haircut, a medium complexion and a scar on his left eye and on the bridge of his nose. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a long-sleeved shirt. He also had a mustache and beard, police said.
