Kaneland School Board Vacancy

The Board of Education of Kaneland Community Unit School District #302 currently seeks applicants to fill a vacancy existing from the resignation of Board Member Joe Oberweis due to a change in residency. The individual selected will serve on the School Board from the date of appointment through the April 7, 2015 general school board election.

Interested applicants should submit a letter of application and resume to the Board of Education at 47W326 Keslinger Road, Maple Park, Illinois 60151 by Monday, August 26, 2013 at 8:00 am. Applicants must be a United States citizen, be at least 18 years of age, a resident of Illinois and the Kaneland district for at least one (1) year preceding the appointment, be a registered voter, not be a child sex offender, not hold another incompatible public office, not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the District, not be a school trustee and not hold certain types of prohibited State or federal employment.

Please note: Current School Board Policy prevents having more than three (3) School Board Members seated from any one Township in our District. At the present time, we have three Board Members from Blackberry Township currently on our Board of Education. Therefore, applications from Blackberry Township cannot be accepted at this time.

Applicants should show familiarity with the Board’s policies regarding general duties and responsibilities of a Board and a Board Member, including fiduciary responsibilities, conflict of interest, ethics and gift ban. The Board’s policies are available at www.kaneland.org/d302/board. The Board of Education will review all applications, interview selected candidates and make a selection by September 9, 2013.
