Spring Grove man critical after motorcycle accident

A Spring Grove man is in serious but stable condition after the custom Harley Davidson motorcycle he was riding in Round Lake Park had crashed on Friday, Round Lake Park Police Chief George Filenko said.

The man, whose name is being withheld until he can be interviewed by police, is in his 60s and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident in the westbound lane of Route 120, near Porter Drive.

He remains in intensive care at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. No other injuries were immediately reported.

The accident happened around 1 p.m. and the police received several 911 calls from witnesses. Two people stopped to help the victim, but did not remain at the scene, Filenko said.

Filenko said the cause of the accident is uncertain and is under investigation.
