Glendale Hts. man accused of plotting to kill relatives
DuPage County authorities announced the arrest of a 23-year-old Glendale Heights man in connection with a murder-for-hire scheme targeting members of his family. He'll be in bond court this morning. Full story
Richmond guilty of threatening probation officer
Jereme Richmond, a former standout basketball player from Lake County, was convicted late Thursday night of threatening his probation officer after she refused to let him take a court-ordered drug test. He faces up to seven years in prison. Full story.

According to employees of a neighboring business, there was a robbery at the Sprint store at Algonquin and Golf roads in Rolling Meadows Thursday, but police were not forthcoming with details. Full story
Augustfest is under way in Des Plaines
Augustfest at St. Zachary Church in Des Plaines launched Thursday night with a performance by the band American English. The festival continues from 6 p.m. to midnight today; 1 p.m. to midnight Saturday; and 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with an outdoor Mass at 11:30 a.m. the last day. Full story

Elgin group to continue offering mobile pregnancy services
A federal judge on Thursday banned Elgin from enforcing zoning restrictions that would prevent The Life Center from offering free ultrasounds and pregnancy tests from its mobile facility. Full story
