Congress puts itself in a class above

I sent the following letter to Sen. Dick Durbin. I don’t expect a reply.

Dear Sen. Durbin:

Knowing that you were a big supporter of the train wreck that is Obamacare (thank you Senator Max Baucus, D-Mont.), I would like to know that if it is so good for all of us why Congress, in a last-minute deal before fleeing Washington, felt it was necessary to exempt themselves and their staff from the Obamacare quagmire? I spoke with someone in your office and was told that without the exemption, congressional staff would not be able to afford it.

Excuse me? The average federal worker makes more than the average worker in the private sector, yet we are expected to afford it. I am reminded of the halcyon days of Communist rule in Russia where the top-level government functionaries and their staff had the dachas in the country and all the attendant privileges not available to the proletariat in the so-called classless Marxist society. I am certainly seeing a parallel in the Obama/Reid/Durbin/Pelosi America — they don’t work for us — we work for them.

And where is the beloved leader now that he has labeled the IRS, NSA and Benghazi issues “phony scandals?” Why, of course, he’s in Martha’s Vineyard vacationing on our nickel. The $100 million junket to Africa just wasn’t restful enough.

You, Sen. Durbin, and your cohorts treat the American public with total disdain. This brazen grab of more privilege for you funded by us is despicable.
