Lindenfest launches Thursday in Lindenhurst
Lindenhurst's annual Lindenfest celebration kicks off Thursday.
Running through Sunday at the village hall center, 2301 E. Sand Lake Road, the festival includes a carnival, a parade, games, bingo, food and live entertainment.
A battle of the bands, an auction and a beauty pageant are planned, too. Admission is free.
Thursday's events begin with an opening ceremony at 5:45 p.m. Adult bingo and three beauty pageants are set for this night as well, and the carnival will run from 6 to 10 p.m.
The festival opens again at 6 p.m. Friday with bingo and a DJ. A cover band called Fortunate Sons performs at 7 p.m. and a second band called Hairbanger's Ball goes on at 9:30 p.m. The carnival will operate from 6 to 11 p.m.
Saturday's activities begin at 10:30 a.m. with a parade down Beck and Sand Lake roads.
The festival starts at noon and the carnival opens at 1 p.m. Face painting, youth bingo and teen bingo are among the planned activities.
Musical performances include Eliminator at 5 p.m., Britain at 7 p.m. and 25 or 6 to 24 at 9:30 p.m.
On Sunday, a battle of the bands contest begins at noon with 12 acts. Youth bingo, adult bingo and face painting are scheduled, too. The carnival will run from 1 to 5 p.m. on the final day.
Food vendors will include Rosati's, the Brat Shop, Lee's Concessions and Hillery's BBQ.
