Prospect Hts. Park District seeks commissioner

In response to the death of Commissioner John E. Barrett, the Prospect Heights Park District is seeking applications to fill his seat on the board — the second vacancy on the board in two months. Applicants must send or deliver a letter and one-page resume to the district’s headquarters by 5 p.m. Aug. 12. Barrett, who was serving his second stint as president of the board, died July 30. He served the district since 1999, and his current term expires in April 2015, said Kathy Nowicki, executive director. Five residents have applied for the board vacancy created by the death of Patrick W. Ludvigsen in June, and they do not need to reapply. Nowicki said she expects both appointments will be made by the end of August.
