Hanover Countryside wins $2,000 in video contest

Hanover Countryside School in Streamwood is one of 37 winners in the Lots2Give video contest sponsored by Big Lots retail stores. Schools from across the country submitted short videos and brief essays about why their school was in need of financial support. Shoppers voted for their favorite video on Big Lots’ website during June and July to determine the winners, which included one $20,000 grand prize, two $10,000 first place prizes, four $5,000 second place prizes and 30 third places prizes of $2,000 each. Officials from Hanover Countryside Elementary will be presented with a $2,000 check at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Streamwood Big Lots store, 1080 South Barrington Road. The school’s video can be viewed at www.biglots.com/lots2give. It said the money might be used for more books, math tools, flashcards, tablets and computers and Wi-Fi.
