Your news Second Saturday Poetry Workshop Aug. 10

The Northwest Cultural Council announces a Second Saturday Poetry Workshop to be held from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Aug. 10, led by Gail Goepfert.

Gail Goepfert is a Midwest teacher, poet and nature photographer. She is published in a number of anthologies and journals including Avocet, Off Channel, After Hours, Caesura, Florida English, Poetic License Press, Examined Life Journal and online at Brevity Poetry Review, Emerge Literary Journal, Blue Hour Magazine and Bolts of Silk.

She was a Poet of the Month for YourDailyPoem.com. Two of her poems rode a PACE bus in a Highland Park’s annual Poetry That Moves contest, and she was a runner-up for Journal of Modern Poetry and Mississippi Valley Poetry Contest. She’s been a member of NWCC’s Second Saturday poets since 2008. Currently, she serves as an associate editor for Chicago-based Rhino.

Participants are encouraged to bring 15 copies of their own work to share with the group. Workshops take place at the Palatine Public Library, 700 N. North Court, Palatine, the second Saturday of each month. All poets and writers are invited to attend the workshop. The cost is $15.
