‘Shrek’ to make local stage debut in Schaumburg

Among locally produced stage musicals are usually found classics that have stood the test of time, ready to be reinterpreted by and introduced to a new generation.

And then, every so often, comes something new to everyone.

Schaumburg On Stage will be the first theater group in the Northwest suburbs to perform the recent Broadway hit “Shrek the Musical” — next Friday and Saturday, Aug. 9 and 10, at Schaumburg High School.

Schaumburg On Stage is a long established troupe of young performers — 7 to 21 years old — run by Carol Lynch and her daughter, Kerrie Noah.

This summer’s production features more than 80 performers guided by musical directors Rosemarie Aiello and John Hacker and director-choreographers Jenna Avers, Colleen Lynch and Danielle Zyrkowski.

Show times will be at 1 and 7 p.m. both days in the auditorium of the school at 1100 W. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg.

All seats are $14 and may be purchased online at ShowTix4U.com or by phone at (866) 967-8167. For general information or details on an organized group rate, call Schaumburg On Stage at (847) 345-0092.
