Daily Herald report

Elk Grove suffered a setback in its first game of the American Legion baseball state tournament Wednesday in downstate Trenton, falling 8-1 to Edwardsville.

Red Sox coach Kevin Miller said the score was deceptive, as the game was tied 1-1 through seven innings behind a strong pitching performance from Elk Grove's Danny Guido. But Edwardsville broke through with a 5-run eighth inning to take command.
