Two injured in three-car pile up on Route 53 near Glen Ellyn

Two people were injured in an early morning crash on Route 53 near Glen Ellyn, authorities said.

DuPage County Sheriff's Deputies are still investigating the cause of the three vehicle crash that occurred on Route 53 between Butterfield Road and Park Boulevard at about 6:50 a.m., authorities said.

Because of the crash, Route 53 from Butterfield Road to Park Boulevard was shut down for about an hour while the crash was investigated.

Two people were transported to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital for minor injuries, authorities said. The names of those involved are not being released at this time.

The roadway was reopened just before 8 a.m.
