Queen crowned at McHenry County Fair

Savannah Kleiner, 18, of Lake in the Hills, was crowned queen in the 64th annual pageant that helped open the McHenry County Fair Wednesday night in Woodstock.

First runner-up was Jessica Thuma, 21, of Woodstock. Second runner-up was Arlinda Fasliu, 18, of Woodstock, and third runner-up was Brooke Romero, 16, of Lake in the Hills

The McHenry County Fair operates through Sunday, and the new queen will be making several appearances.

The fair kicked off the extended weekend of fun at the McHenry County Fairgrounds in Woodstock with a flag-raising ceremony at noon Wednesday in the grandstand. The morning was filled with 4-H livestock shows, and barn tours filled the afternoon, offering fairgoers the chance to learn about what goes into taking care of the featured livestock.

The entertainment pavilion was alive with bingo during the day and karaoke at night.

The fair continues at 10 a.m. Thursday with Veterans Day. Tickets are $7 for adults, $3 for kids 8 to 12, and free for kids 7 and younger.
