North Chicago man charged with selling heroin and cannabis

An admitted heroin dealer remains held in Lake County jail in lieu of $100,000 bail, Waukegan police said Tuesday.

Marcus “Paco” Samuel, 32, of the 2400 block of 24th Place in North Chicago, has been charged with unlawful possession of a cannabis, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession with intent to deliver, and unlawful possession with intent to deliver within a 1,000 feet of a school or park, authorities said.

Samuel was arrested Thursday, July 25, after police pulled over his vehicle for a traffic stop at 6th Street and Elmwood Aveue. Police said they discovered 3.4 grams of heroin, 4.5 grams of cannabis, and $1,043 in cash in the vehicle.

During questioning by police, Samuel gave a full confession to being a heroin dealer, authorities said.

Samuel was taken to the Lake County jail and he is scheduled to return to court Aug. 28.
