Fox Valley Christian Action increases capacity to serve local at-risk youth

St. Charles, IL July 30, 2013- Fox Valley Christian Action (formerly Riverwoods Christian Center) recently broke ground for its sixth new cabin in order to increase its capacity to serve more youth from local under-resourced communities. The ministry's campus is located on 85 acres along the Fox River in St. Charles.

Generous donations of $10,000 from the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley and $10,000 from the Tyndale House Foundation have helped to make the groundbreaking possible.

The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley is a non-profit philanthropic organization that administers individual charitable funds from which grants and scholarships are distributed to benefit the citizens of the Greater Aurora Area, the TriCities and Kendall County Illinois. For more information on the Community Foundation, visit www.CommunityFoundationFRV.org

The Tyndale House Foundation seeks to provide tools so that people around the world can hear and understand the message of God's love and His plan for reconciliation with humanity and to provide education and training in the creation and use of these tools. Local business partners: Torry Granrath's Custom Concrete, Ditch Witch Midwest and Mendel Plumbing & Heating also are important contributors to the new cabin. Much of the construction labor will be done by skilled volunteers who help to significantly reduce the cost of construction.

Fox Valley Christian Action partners with local churches, foundations, service organizations and businesses to serve youth and families in under-resourced communities of the Fox River Valley. In 1977, Fox Valley Christian Action began its ministry to the under-resourced communities of the Fox River Valley by engaging the youth in positive programs through camping.

Today Fox Valley Christian Action provides a variety of programs for at-risk youth through Riverwoods Family Campus. This summer nearly 800 children will have the opportunity to grow and mature by attending camp. FVCA also partners with local church congregations to provide further support to families throughout the year through its Riverworks Life Skills Outreach Ministry

Kane County faces the reality that 64,000 people are living below the Federal Poverty Limit – 27,000 are children. Fox Valley Christian Action is committed to

consistently reaching as many youth and families as possible every year. To accommodate growth and to “phase out” some very out-dated structures, Fox Valley Christian Action has constructed five new cabins and just broke ground for its sixth cabin.

Fox Valley Christian Action is a non-denominational Christian ministry which serves families regardless of their religious commitment.
