PEORIA -- Kane County pitcher Jose Rosario set a record by allowing a franchise-record 13 runs as the Peoria Chiefs pounded the Cougars 14-1 to claim the three-game series Monday night at Dozer Park.

Rosario (0-7) surrendered 4 consecutive singles with one out in the bottom of the first, which plated the first 2 runs for the Chiefs (57-46, 19-17). Ildemaro Vargas added a 2-run single in front of a run-scoring double by Jeremy Schaffer to put Peoria ahead by 5.

An error by Giuseppe Papaccio and a Charlie Tilson single put the first two men on base for the Chiefs in the bottom of the second for Breyvic Valera. With the runners going, Valera hit a liner to short that Papaccio caught on a leaping try which began an easy 6-4-3 triple play to end the threat.

No such luck for the Cougars (40-61, 10-25) in the next few innings as Rosario coughed up 4 runs in the bottom of the third. Schaffer drove in a run with a fielder's choice, and Gerwuins Velazco cracked a 3-run homer to make it 9-0. Three more for Chiefs came across in the fourth when Patrick Wisdom unloaded the bases with a double down the right-field line.

The Cougars' Dan Vogelbach cranked a home run against Thomas Lee (4-1) in the top of the sixth.

The Cougars return to Fifth Third Bank Ballpark today to host the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at 6:30. Right-hander Justin Amlung (4-4) will start for the Cougars against righty Eric Semmelhack (1-6).
