• Christopher J. Kvapil, 24, of the 2800 block of South Ridgeland Avenue, Berwyn, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 2:47 a.m. Sunday after a traffic stop on North Tyler Road in St. Charles, according to a sheriff report. Kvapil was a passenger and authorities found a glass pipe with white residue on it, the report said.

• A chain saw, tools, numerous pieces of jewelry and antique coins from the Civil War through World War II were reported stolen at 2:48 p.m. July 22 from a residence on the 10N700 block of Weldwood Drive near Elgin, according to a sheriff report. The total loss is estimated at $31,820, the report said.

• A car alarm for a vehicle parked in a driveway on the 0-99 block of Briargate Circle in Sugar Grove Township went off at about 10:30 a.m. July 21 and the owner went outside to see a man running away, according to a sheriff report. The man went for a drive 90 minutes later, and a similar-looking man jumped out of some bushes and hit the car with an egg, causing more than $300 damage to the paint, the report said. No immediate arrests were made.
