Rollins Road Gateway open house:

The Lake County Division of Transportation hosts an open house to kickoff the start of construction on the Rollins Road Gateway Project on Wednesday, July 31, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Cultural and Civic Center, 2007 Civic Center Way in Round Lake Beach. Officials will provide information about the project, the schedule and what can be expected during the various phases of construction. Work is expected to begin in the next several weeks and will take about two years to complete. The Lake County Board has funded this $30.8 million improvement using money from a sales tax increase. Work includes lowering the elevation of Rollins Road and Route 83 and building a new bridge to carry the Canadian National/Metra Railroad over the intersection.
