Riverwoods group has low-cost cat adoption for seniors

Feline Friends for Seniors is an adoption program designed to help senior adults afford the initial costs of taking on an adult cat as a pet.

On Wednesdays, at Orphans of the Storm, any senior, age 65 or older, may select an adult cat, or two, and Orphans of the Storm will waive the $90 adoption fee and reduce the vaccination fee to $60 covering rabies, tag fee, distemper, microchip, fecal exam, well pet exam and spay or neuter.

Orphans of the Storm’s adult cat room is home to up to 200 cats at any time.

The selection of cats that Orphans of the Storm offers for adoption is hard to match. Whatever breed, size, color, personality or age you have in mind, you can find it at Orphans of the Storm.

Visit the animal shelter everyday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy some time in the cat room and see just which cat will pick you. The shelter is located at 2200 Riverwoods Road, Riverwoods. No appointment is necessary. Orphans of the Storm animal shelter is a nonprofit, nongovernment subsidized, section 501(c)(3) organization.

For information, contact the shelter at (847) 945-0235.
