Enjoy a picnic in Paris of sorts at a five-course family-style dinner at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 31. Begin with mini crabcake with lemon beurre blanc and capers, salad, fried chicken, corn on the cob with cilantro lime butter and chilled pasta salad with seasonal vegetables and barbecue brisket with roasted herbed potatoes and onion rings. Wrap up the repast with mixed fruit soaked in Grand Marnier syrup, Key lime pie or apple pie. $60 per person plus tax and tip.

Village Tavern pays homage to veterans

Long Grove’s iconic Village Tavern pays tribute to those who have served our country with its fourth annual pig roast and concert 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 28. The day includes live music by New Odyssey and a cookout featuring brats and Dorflers of Buffalo Grove’s famous pig roast. The pig roast costs $10 per person; complimentary for veterans and their families.

Sullivan’s sure thing

Try Sullivan’s Steakhouse Lincolnshire’s “sure thing,” a new prix fixe menu that starts with cheesesteak egg rolls or the Shanghai-style calamari. Next, opt for French onion soup, Caesar salad or Sullivan’s wedge salad. Entree options include filet medallions with shrimp, porcini-shallot crusted strip steak, broiled Bay of Fundy salmon and roasted pork tenderloin. $39 per person.
