Streamwood Summer Celebration this weekend

The theme of Streamwood’s Summer Celebration 2013 is “The Best of Broadway.” The party begins at 5 p.m. Friday, July 26, and at noon on Saturday and Sunday at Hoosier Grove Park, 700 W. Irving Park Road. It ends at 11 p.m. the first two days and at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Main stage entertainment includes Pirate Radio at 5:30 p.m. and Hi Infidelity at 8:30 p.m. on Friday; Soundtrack Serenade at 2:30 p.m., R-Gang at 5:30 p.m. and 7th Heaven at 8:30 p.m. Saturday; and Crazy Talk at 3 p.m. and 5 Guys Named Moe at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

The festival theme will be most in evidence at the parade 10:30 a.m. Saturday, which proceeds down Streamwood Boulevard from Bartlett Road to Hoosier Park. A parking ban will be in effect along Streamwood Boulevard from Oltendorf Road to Madison from 7 a.m. until one hour after the parade concludes. At 9 a.m., Streamwood Boulevard will be closed from Bartlett Road to Oltendorf Road.

This year’s celebration also will include a children’s stage with activities for younger participants, a business expo to market products and services, a golf tournament, a carnival, bingo and Saturday night fireworks.

Carnival tickets are $1.25 each, with one to four tickets required per ride. Unlimited rides are available noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with the purchase of a wristband for $18.

Games and activities will include a dunk tank, basketball shoot, water balloons, mini-golf, bucket game and fishing game. Prices are $1 to $4.

A children’s craft activity area tent will be open 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday. Prices are $1 to $3, though open easels for young Rembrandts will be available throughout the event for free.

Business expo hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, and 12 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Only handicap and permit parking are allowed on-site. Others should park off-site at Park Place, 550 S. Park Blvd.; village hall, 301 E. Irving Park Road; or Streamwood High School, 701 W. Schaumburg Road. Shuttle bus service will run on the half-hour from those locations 4 to 11 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
