Kids and critters team up for school year

Fox Valley Jewish School and Fox Valley Wildlife Center are joining forces to help the animals. The students will be working with center staff on a number of projects throughout the school year.

“One of the core values of our school is to help in the community,” said Mim Evans, school board member. “Each year our students work with a different local non-profit organization. The children are excited about helping wildlife this year.”

The Wildlife Center is looking forward to working with the students as well. FVJN students will visit the center in the fall to learn about the organization's mission and the work of the staff. The students will take back what they learn and apply it to various projects throughout the year. Younger students will make treat bags for the animals and posters about how to care for injured wildlife, while older students will tackle constructing nesting boxes and bird enclosures. The entire school will also participate in a fundraiser for the Center.

Fox Valley Jewish School is affiliated with Fox Valley Jewish Neighbors, a nonprofit Jewish community organization located in Geneva and serving Jewish and interfaith families throughout the Fox Valley. The school provides religious education for children from age 3 through 8th grade. Classes meet twice each month, September through May. For additional information on the school or to find out about other FVJN activities go to www.fvjn.org or email info@fvjn.org.

Fox Valley Wildlife Center was founded in 2000 to help rehabilitate injured wild animals in Kane County. The non-profit organization relies on donations and grants to fund its work. Thousands of animals are brought to the center every year. The center is located in the Elburn Forest Preserve on Rt. 38 and is open every day of the year. If you have questions concerning wildlife or have found an injured animal, call the center at (630) 365-3800. For more information, or to make a donation, go to foxvalleywildlife.org.
