And maybe you're the parent who surprised your children with new outfits but was told that your choices were "so five minutes ago."

Trends are always changing, and frankly, it's hard to keep up.

But if you know what's in and where you can get it, shopping will cease to be the nightmare it has so often proven to be.

This season, preschool and elementary-aged girls will stand out in floral patterns when they head back to class. Mix up your teenagers' accessories -- like her backpack -- with the same print.

Denim transcends all age boundaries. This fabric will reign through the rest of summer and into fall for young girls and teenagers alike.

Boys who still have nap time will look great in stripes or graphic tees -- plain shirts with a single printed image on the front. Polos are phasing out for older kids, but they're still in style for elementary and preschool-aged boys.

Guys will look trendy and feel comfortable with sneakers that have bold colors and slick graphics, whether they're running laps or just hanging out.

Now that you've done your homework, shop away and impress your kids with your fashion know-how.
