Two bodies found in Downers Grove home

By Christopher Placek

Authorities are conducting a death investigation after two bodies were found Friday inside a home in Downers Grove.

Police found the bodies of a man and woman Friday afternoon when they responded to the home on Park Avenue for a well-being check.

Preliminary indications are that the incident appears to be domestic-related and there is no apparent threat to the public, according to Police Lt. Mike Willison.

Police identified the two individuals as Thomas F. Smith, 41, and Jennifer M. Smith, 39.

DuPage County Coroner Rich Jorgenson said late Friday afternoon authorities were waiting for a judge to approve a search warrant so they could perform additional investigation.

"Right now we just have preliminary stuff and we're waiting for a search warrant," Jorgenson said.

Authorities from the Downers Grove Police Department and DuPage County Coroner's Office said the investigation was ongoing.
