Des Plaines ready for its Summer Fling

Final preparations for this year's Des Plaines Summer Fling took place Thursday as the three-day festival highlighted by live music, food, arts and crafts and carnival rides and games gets under way Friday.
The fest takes place on Ellinwood Street between River Road and Lee Street in the city's downtown. Hours are 6 to 11 p.m. Friday; 3 to 11 p.m. Saturday; and 3 to 10 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free, though there is a charge for carnival rides.
Musical performances scheduled include JakTripper (rock) and Generation (classic '60s pop/rock) Friday night; Radio Disney (kids/families), Fortunate Sons (Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute), Suite Mollie Seven (classic R&B, soul and rock), and The Buckinghams ('60s classic pop) Saturday; and Brass Buckle Band (Country rock), Suburban Cowboys (country tribute band) and 7th Heaven (pop/rock) on Sunday.
