Troupe entertains at Concourse d’Elegance gala

Local dancers with Dancewerks, appeared Saturday evening at Barrington’s Concourse d’Elegance VIP cocktail reception and charity gala.

The dancers were brought together under the direction of Barrington native Ellen Werksman, who gathered the talented performers to be featured at the event hosted at the Barrington Hills Country Club.

The dancers entertained the audience with excerpts from the Musical “Guys and Dolls,” an audience favorite recently presented this past spring at Barrington High School.

“I was honored to be asked to provide the dance entertainment at this prestigious event,” said Werksman, director of the dance program at the Barrington Artz Center. “These dancers came together to bring to life the ’20’s-style of dance for hundreds of appreciative audience members and they really wowed them.”

The event presented annually raises money for the Legends and Legacies Foundation, Barrington Area Conservation Trust.

“We were so excited to be able to connect with Ms. Werksman; her background in the entertainment industry is impressive and her reputation as a talented and creative choreographer made her the obvious choice for this event,” said Mosie Himes, director of Hospitality Barrington Concourse d’Elegance.

All the dancers featured are students at Barrington High School: Maggie Eastham, Elise Gibbons, Kendra Kudla, Franceska Karasinski, Katie Rouse and Amanda Rudolphini.
