Heat having an effect on angling
Just how bad is the heat in regard to filling a live well?
Well, guide Chris Taurisano (T-Bone Guide Service, (630) 330-9090), isn’t complaining. He just shifts gears and lets the muskies hide out while he locates bass, walleye and crappies.
Taurisano and another guide or two report water temperatures on the Fox Chain run in the low 80s.
But Jeff Pere, a non-guide angler, says he has been connecting on muskies during a night bite. His lake of choice now is Pistakee.
Bluff Lake has a fairly decent white bass bite. Petite Lake continues to offer great bluegilling.
The Lake Michigan story varies with location.
The south end has kings and lake trout suspended at 75 feet down, while boats on the far north end near the Wisconsin border are able to locate schools at the 100 foot level.
Cook County: Heat plays heavily for anglers wanting to fish Busse. Not many out.
Lake County: Independence Grove has some daredevils braving the humidity with catches of bluegills and small bass reported.
