Mourners pay tribute in Zion to fallen firefighter
The family of Anthony Rose was joined by hundreds of firefighters and supporters last night during a memorial service in Zion. Rose was killed June 30 along with 18 other members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots while battling a wildfire north of Phoenix. "All of this tradition and the fire trucks are for the family to show them the fire service is with them and for them," said Justin Stried, of the Zion department. Full story with video.

Cary residents have their say about flooding
Tears from Cary residents and stories of how the flooding from late June left their lives in ruins dominated a specially called village board meeting last night. There was Clyde Porter, who said the six floods he experienced for 17 years forced him and his family to move out of their Cary home two years ago. To this day, sound of rainfall makes him nervous.
