Lisle man charged with driving more than 100 mph

A 24-year-old man has been charged with reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol after allegedly driving more than 100 mph down a busy Naperville street and crashing into a streetlight and two parked cars.

Nicholas Songco of Lisle also was charged with driving more than 40 mph over the posted speed limit and improper lane use following the crash at 2:53 a.m. Sunday at the corner of Chicago Avenue and Naper Boulevard, officials said.

Naperville Sgt. Lou Cammiso said Songco was seen behind the wheel of a tan, 2002 Chevrolet Impala and driving east on Chicago Avenue from Columbia Street, near the campus of North Central College, at speeds in excess of 100 mph.

Soon after, the Impala crashed into a light pole and two parked cars near Chicago and Naper.

Songco was traveling alone at the time and was not seriously hurt in the crash. No other injuries were reported.

His next court date is unknown at this time.
