Naperville man guilty of home invasion, battery

A jury has found a Naperville man guilty for entering the house of his estranged wife and beating her in 2011, prosecutors said Friday.

Kenny Edwards, 36, was found guilty of home invasion and domestic battery following a four-day trial, according to the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office.

Prosecutors said Edwards entered his wife’s home without permission in the early morning hours of Oct. 30, 2011, found her in a bedroom, and beat her with his fists and two chairs, breaking one over her body.

Naperville police responded to a report of a domestic dispute about 6:15 a.m. and found the injured woman at a neighbor’s home.

Edwards has remained in the DuPage County jail since his arrest in lieu of $200,000 bail.

He faces six to 30 years in prison for the home invasion charge alone. He is due in court again Aug. 9.
