Jazz/funk band T.S. 5 comes home for show at Metropolis

On Sunday, July 14, Arlington Heights native Tim Seisser brings his jazz/funk ensemble T.S. 5 to The Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in downtown Arlington Heights for a rare, all ages, suburban appearance.

This is a very special homecoming show for Seisser and his band and will mark the first time this group will be performing in the Northwest suburbs since 2011. That last performance was also a very special one at his alma mater Rolling Meadows High School.

T.S. 5 played an afternoon set at Jazz In The Meadows, one of the biggest Chicago area jazz festivals for middle school and high school bands.

“That was a very special performance for the band,” says Seisser, “because we not only got to perform for a lot of suburban music fans who can’t make it out to the late night shows in Chicago, but also because we got to show a lot of young musicians what music can be all about and how much fun it can be.”

A highlight of the day was when members of T.S. 5 sat in at the late afternoon jam session with area students. T.S. 5 hopes the Metropolis show will be another opportunity for music fans, especially younger students, to catch some cutting edge contemporary jazz.

“We are really looking forward to this show because we get to perform for not only friends and family who have a hard time making it out to the city, but also because it is all ages, students and younger music fans.”

Seisser and his band are excited to announce their debut studio album release, “One For All.” The album was recorded live in one day without overdubs or edits at The Alley Recording Studio in Valparaiso, Ind., with engineer Marc Nelson. It was mastered at the award-winning Mastering Lab in Los Angeles, Calif., by Eric Boulanger.

The band was started with the purpose of combining the feel good grooves of classic and contemporary R&B and funk music with the freedom and artistic expression of improvised jazz.

Members of the group have performed with bands and musicians from all across the musical spectrum, including Hey Champ, Lupe Fiasco, Nick Colionne, Liquid Soul, Matthew Santos, Danilo Perez, Howard Levy, Fareed Haque, Eliot Mason, The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and many more.

Members include Seisser on bass guitar, Jonathan Marks on drums, Matt Nelson on keyboards, Rich Moore on saxophone and Luke Malewicz on trombone.
