Citizenship Classes Begin Soon at Schaumburg Township District Library

Preparation classes for those desiring U.S. citizenship will be held in August and September at the Schaumburg Township District Library in two locations. The “U.S. Citizenship Preparation Class” is scheduled from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays from Aug. 29 through Nov. 15 in the Adult Classroom of the Central Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg. It will also be held from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from Sept. 3 through Nov. 13 at the Hoffman Estates Branch Library, 1550 Hassell Rd. This 12-week class is free and is sponsored in cooperation with District 214 Community Education.

Participants will meet twice weekly to practice reading and writing in English and learn how to answer citizenship questions from the N-400 application. Requirements and obstacles will also be discussed. These classes are provided through a literacy grant from the American Library Association and the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.
