Schaumburg library to host U.S. citizenship classes

Preparation classes for those seeking U.S. citizenship will be held in August and September at two locations of the Schaumburg Township District Library.

The “U.S. Citizenship Preparation Class” is scheduled from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays from Aug. 29 through Nov. 15 in the Adult Classroom of the Central Library at 130 S. Roselle Road in Schaumburg. It also will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays from Sept. 3 through Nov. 13 at the Hoffman Estates Branch Library, 1550 Hassell Road in Hoffman Estates.

The 12-week class is free and sponsored in cooperation with District 214 Community Education, through a literacy grant from the American Library Association and the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. Participants will practice reading and writing in English and learn how to answer citizenship questions from the N-400 application.
