Elgin parade winners announced

The Elgin Fourth of July Parade Committee recently announced the winners of the city of Elgin’s Fourth of July Parade’s “Marching Through Time” decorating contest.

The winners in the business category are: first place, Danny’s Pizza on Douglas; second place, Midwest Elite Gymnastics Academy; and third place, Lamp Inc.

The winners in the kids category are: first place, Spring Hill Gymnastics; second place, South Elgin High School; and third place, Safari Childcare.

The winners in the open category are: first place, People That Make Patriotic Floats; second place, Elgin Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association; and third place, ABODE.

The parade judging panel included Charlene Sligting, Saul Acevedo, Rose Reinert, Chloe White, Layne Fleming and Max Moring.

All contest winners will be recognized at the July 24 city council meeting at 7 p.m.

The city of Elgin, the Downtown Neighborhood Association and the Elgin Fourth of July Parade Committee thanks parade entrants, entertainment, judges, VIPs, grand marshals, sponsors, volunteers and everyone who attended the 2013 City of Elgin Fourth of July Parade — presented by Advocate Sherman Hospital.
