Suspected drunken driver eats part of patrol car

A north-central Illinois man accused of resisting arrest on charges of drunken driving apparently has even more legal trouble to chew on after allegedly eating part of the patrol car that hauled him off to jail.

WLPO-AM reports 22-year-old Rick Frederick of Sheridan made clear he didn't want to be taken in by LaSalle County sheriff's deputies early Saturday, so he started gnawing on the molding around the door of the patrol car while seated in the car.

Frederick's 14 citations linked to the traffic stop now include criminal damage to government property, along with tickets alleging DUI, resisting arrest, obstructing identification, fleeing and eluding, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sheridan does not have a listed home telephone number. Online court records don't show whether he has an attorney.
