A free, six-week police academy for senior citizens will begin July 19 at Maine Township Town Hall, 1700 Ballard Road in Park Ridge. The program will be hosted by the Cook County Sheriff, Maine Township and state Rep. Marty Moylan, of Des Plaines. Classes will meet every Friday at 10 a.m. until Aug. 2. Topics will range from understanding scams targeted at seniors to learning about the Cook County jail and court system.
