We may never know wny Bulls jettisoned Adams

While assistant coaches and head coaches come and go, leave it to the Bulls to throw a kink into the mindset of hard-working and focused head coach Tom Thibodeau after they let go Thibodeau’s close friend and assistant Ron Adams.

At the news conference, general manager Gar Forman wished Adams good luck and said it wouldn’t do anyone any good to give the reasons why Adams was let go.

Atta boy, Mr. GM — hang the guy out to dry and leave plenty of room for speculation.

I think we can safely say it wasn’t a positive for Adams’ resume. Shhh! Let’s handle it the same way we handled the Derrick Rose injury, which by most accounts was handled poorly.

I talked with Bulls.com writer Sam Smith on my radio show about a month ago, and Sam said the Bulls were blameless regarding D-Rose and instead placed the blame on the media and the fans.

What did we do? What did the fans do?

Other journalists such as Brian Geltzeiler of Hoopscritics.com say that the Bulls leaked the situation about Rose being cleared to play back in February to put pressure on him to return.

That doesn’t mean Sam is incorrect, but he works for the Bulls, so you have to take Sam’s comments with a grain of salt.

Let’s start speculating about Adams’ departure because Foreman didn’t want to give any specifics.

Adams was supposedly close with Rose, but there is word Adams was questioning personnel decisions. Was one of them why Rose wasn’t out there on the court for games?

If the two were so close, why wasn’t Adams spared? If Adams did something worse than differ on personnel decisions, no one has said so — but we may never know.

I doubt he was leaking national secrets with Eric Snowden, but who knows?

Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf runs his organization like a private company, until he needs tax breaks for baseball stadiums, practice facilities or entertainment complexes. If the public is important to him and pays the freight, why the secrecy? Don’t we deserve some answers?

The explanation Rose gave Wednesday for being out for the year could have been delivered in March, and it would have eased a lot of the talk and criticism.

Why did they choose to wait? It gave them a PR nightmare that dogged the team for weeks. If the rumors that he was 95 percent ready weren’t true, they could have told us.

Oh well, maybe next off-season they will tell us why Adams was really let go.
