Goler’s homer gives Bandits a win

Alisa Goler belted a 3-run homer to snap a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning, and the Chicago Bandits captured a 5-2 victory over the NY/NJ Comets on Friday night in Rosemont.

The Bandits (14-4) lead the four-game series 2-1 with the finale today at 7:35 p.m.

Monica Abbottt (6-1) came on in relief in the fifth inning and earned the victory. Abbott notched 6 strikeouts.

In the fourth inning, Eri Yamada walked, took second on a sacrifice bunt and third on a wild pitch. Vicky Galindo smashed an RBI double that drove home Yamada and gave the Bandits a 1-run lead. Yamada’s run was the Bandits’ 50th at the Ballpark at Rosemont this season.

In the bottom of the second, the Bandits had tied the score at 1-1 when Yamada’s single drove in Tammy Williams, the Bandits’ 100th run overall of the season.

Michelle Gascoigne started for the Bandits and allowed a solo homer to Amanda Kamekona of the Comets (3-16).
